She recognized DPS Troopers Juan Zuniga of McAllen and Roman Gonzalez of Edinburg, both members of the elite Texas DPS Honor Guard, noting that Gonzalez served as a Marine in Iraq and earned the Combat Action Ribbon before his 17 years as a trooper. She honored Edinburg Police Chief Jaime Ayala, who won the Texas Police Chiefs Association&#8217;s Mike Gentry Executive Leadership Award and whose department has been named the Valley&#8217;s favorite law enforcement agency three years running.
