McAllen, TX – Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz has secured yet another decisive victory in Texas’ 15th Congressional District, overcoming millions of dollars in outside spending to unseat her in this traditionally Democratic region. In 2022, De La Cruz became the first Republican and first Latina from the region elected to a full-term in Congress in over 100 years. With tonight’s historic win, Congresswoman De La Cruz has once again out-performed the district’s Partisan Voter Index (PVI), a testament to her bipartisan appeal and popularity in South Texas.

Reflecting on her win, De La Cruz expressed her gratitude to supporters, saying, “In 2022, we made history, and tonight’s outcome confirms that the change we brought to this community is here to stay.” She thanks her family, volunteers, and South Texas’s law enforcement and border agents for their continued support.

Congresswoman De La Cruz also made a direct appeal to her opponent and her supporters. “I thank Michelle for running. It’s now time for all of us to come together and focus on what truly matters—and that is improving the lives of all our residents. Whether you voted for me or not, I will always fight for every Texan.”

De La Cruz has quickly established herself as an exceptionally effective leader in Washington. While previous representatives from the district—despite enjoying large Democratic majorities—had not managed to pass a single piece of legislation in over a decade, De La Cruz defied the odds. In a deeply divided Congress, she successfully passed five of her own bills in her first term, showcasing her commitment and bipartisan work ethic. Her achievements include championing legislation to protect Americans from deadly drugs like fentanyl, which was signed into federal law—the first time in 20 years that a bill from this community has become the law of the land.

In her victory speech before a packed ballroom at the Embassy Suites by Hilton McAllen Convention Center, Congresswoman De La Cruz emphasized her strong ties to her community. “Years ago, not too far from here, a young Mexican man worked the land with his bare hands, faith in God, and determination,” De La Cruz said. “That man was my abuelito, and he knelt in those fields so that I could stand before you as your voice in the people’s House.”

With a focus on border security, support for small businesses, and protecting seniors’ benefits, De La Cruz has introduced over 300 pieces of legislation in her first term, addressing everything from expanding access to breast cancer care for women to healthy meals for low-income children and families. Local publications have praised her as a “freshman success” and a “diligent, responsible member of Congress.” Her results-driven approach has resonated across party lines, underscoring her cross-party appeal in one of the country’s most Hispanic districts.

“Our community deserves more than benchwarmers in Washington,” she said. “South Texans want leaders who bring real solutions — and I am just getting started.”

Texas’ 15th Congressional District spans from McAllen in Hidalgo County up to Seguin in Guadalupe County, covering Brooks, Jim Wells, Live Oak, Karnes, and Wilson counties. The Congresswoman looks forward to returning to Washington in January, where she will continue fighting for border security and economic prosperity for Texans and all Americans.
