U.S. Rep. Monica De La Cruz, R-McAllen, met with President Donald Trump last week to discuss the Rio Grande Valley’s ongoing water crisis as Mexico falls even further behind on its water delivery obligations.
De La Cruz met with the president at The White House last Thursday. There, she reiterated to him the importance of Mexico meeting its obligations under the terms of a 1944 water sharing treaty with the United States.
“It was an honor to meet with President Trump in the White House to advocate for South Texas and share the devastating impacts of the Mexican Government’s refusal to deliver on their water obligations,” De La Cruz said in a news release Thursday.
